"Sure, I'll do it," Seth said as sweetly as he could.
Davenport smiled in gratitude. "Thank you very much Seth. I knew you were a good kid inside." Seth blushed in embarrassment.
Seth walked TJ back to her room in silence. He heard the girl mumbling to herself, which he later learned was her practicing for her foreign language class- Mercurian dialect. Seth shook his head, wondering why cadets and kids were forced to take these languages when everyone now spoke the Universal Language to understand the other species.
"Well here, we are," Seth said, allowing TJ to enter her room before him. "Goodnight."
"Wait!" TJ wailed. "Aren't you gonna tuck me in?"
"That's what your mommy's for," Seth snapped.
"Mommy's out for the evening and... and I'm scared of the dark!"
Seth sighed. Davenport has a lot to pay me for, he grumbled in thought, dragging his feet to the girl. "Read to me too," TJ added. alot.
Seth settled down next to her bed and pulled out of her suitcase a compupad, which he thought was to contain a fairy tale. Much to his surprise, (and horror) it was in actuality, a 500 page volume on the history of the Regellians!
"Be sure to read the margin notes,' TJ instructed.
"No way!" Seth cried. "I have no time to read you this novel of a compupad!"
"Yes you do," TJ said sweetly, pushing back a tuft of cover. Seth's hand was portrayed handcuffed to the bed underneath! "My bed has an automatic handcuffing system," TJ boasted. "And it won't release you until I say so." TJ smiled smugly. "So are you gonna read to me or not?"
Seth sighed, knowing that if he screamed any of the faculty would take TJ's side. He knew that Davenport basically let her run wild. So he prepared himself for a long night.
