Leaving TJ to stare, the two boys raced down the corridor and with their new found stolen tool got access to the landing bay. The landing bay was soundproof, lucky enough, so TJ had no idea if they actually went through with their little prank. I'll never think about them again, TJ told herself. Pranksters shall have nothing to do with me.
TJ stayed true to her word. Ellison Band and Seth Goddard stayed out of her mind for a long time. The girl went to school, received the highest grades in her class, and repelled pranksters as much throughout those years as she did when she was six.
The last time she heard of Ellison Band was on a virtual news station- he was killed in action in the Spung/Andromedan War. TJ hung her head in grief, thinking of the poor wife and little son that he'd left behind whom the program had mentioned.
The Spung/Andromedan War had taken a hefty toll on TJ's father too- a few years after it- he resigned from office. He left his position to a trusted colleague but requested that TJ become vice- principal! The school knew of her high marks, (since they taught her the knowledge,) and gladly accepted her as vice- principal.
That very year TJ got a big surprise. Commander Seth Goddard was kicked out of his duty as a StarDog and was forced to teach at the academy. TJ was careful to avoid her old acquaintance from childhood as much as she could but it wasn't to stay that way.
Eight years later, the year that was supposed to be Seth's last of teaching, vice principal TJ Davenport was giving a lecture to a bunch of failing space cadets one of whom was Ellison Band's son. At one point- in rage- she went to fetch their teacher who was of course, Seth Goddard. Once the two- some made it back into the classroom the cadet's were nowhere to be found but lo and behold, there was a spaceship outside!
"Knowing Band as I do I bet he took the others onto that ship," Seth muttered.
"Then we have to go after them," TJ was firm. Seth looked at her in surprise, thinking this was a little too adventurous for her tastes. "So we shall," he agreed. The two went through the airlock that Harlan had activated and entered the ship. And the rest is history.
